After the Rebrand: How Brand Stewardship Keeps Your Brand Together
Dyno Creative on Branding and Business Strategy | November 1, 2026
What happens after the rebrand is done?
A retailer needs a different package. Your sales team needs a presentation for Thursday. The files from the rebrand don’t quite cover either.
You probably didn’t finish a rebrand because you wanted another job managing your brand.
Dyno Creative offers ongoing creative support after a rebrand through monthly Brand Stewardship retainers. We’re a boutique brand strategy studio with illustration at the heart of what we do. We stay involved as you need new packaging, sales materials, and web and digital design. The team knows the brand because we helped build it.

Benefits of long-term brand stewardship
The project that kept opening up
A consumer-products founder came to us to strengthen his packaging for a retail launch. We started with a fixed-price trial: brand direction, packaging concepts, and product renders.
Partway through a design review on Zoom, he asked us a question.
“You guys will not get offended if I give you like a million little tiny like tidbit comments, correct?”
We welcomed it. He explained why one color stood out on Amazon while another disappeared. He needed to see the bottles at the same angle to judge the designs. We were learning how he looked at his own product.
He’d worked on a retainer with another agency before. He liked having room to work through revisions. But our trial had a deadline:
“You can already see how friction would come up if it’s like, oh, we’re trying to nail this by a date. And it’s like, wait, I want 2000 more iterations.”
Each round helped us understand the problem better, but we couldn’t keep adding rounds to a fixed-price trial.
He moved to a monthly partnership. By a later planning meeting, we were talking through product imagery, packaging updates, and online storefronts. The work had grown beyond the launch package, and we weren’t starting from scratch with each request.
How a product family drifts apart
Our client needed stronger retail packaging without losing the recognition he’d built on Amazon. Some material colors were locked in for about 15 months. We had to decide what could change and what needed to stay familiar.
That is where a product family can drift. The retail package gets one treatment. The online version keeps another. The next product introduces a third. Nobody set out to do that. Everyone was trying to get their piece finished.
A customer who trusts your first product may not recognize your second. You’ve earned their trust, but the packaging isn’t helping them make the connection.
Brand stewardship means looking at the whole product line when you make those decisions. What needs to change? What should still feel familiar?
Freelancers can handle individual projects well. If several people contribute, someone still needs to connect the work.
A team that already knows the brand
You don’t have to explain every decision again. Who you’re trying to reach. What you’ve tried. Why you ruled something out.
Some of that is in your brand book. Some lives in the conversations that got you there.
At Dyno, strategy and illustration happen on the same team. That thinking carries into your packaging, sales materials, and website. They should look and sound like the same brand.
The monthly conversation
What’s coming up? What’s changed? What needs to happen first?
You tell us what’s happening in the business. We work out what that means for the creative work, then decide together what moves next and what can wait.

Structuring monthly creative retainers
How the retainer works
You pay a fixed monthly fee for an agreed amount of creative support. That gives you a team to keep working with, not unlimited work. We agree on what’s covered and how many projects can run at once.
At Dyno, briefs, feedback, and decisions live in Basecamp. We agree on priorities and timing, then work through the queue. If something urgent moves up, we decide what moves back.
We set the timing around the work. Updating a sales sheet is different from testing a new packaging design.
Choosing your size
What do you need to make over the next few months? And do you need help deciding what to make, too?
Dyno offers smaller retainers with one active project at a time, and larger partnerships with more room for strategy and connected projects.
| Your Situation | What to Discuss |
|---|---|
| The brand is established; you need regular design support | A smaller retainer with one active project and a monthly check-in |
| Several connected projects need attention, with ongoing strategic decisions | A larger partnership with more strategy time and an agreed number of active projects |
| You have one defined project and little ongoing work | A standalone project |
What's covered, and what stays separate
We agree on what you need before we start. That can include:
- Strategy and design: brand reviews, illustration, packaging updates, sales materials, presentations, and campaign graphics.
- Digital and web design: website graphics and updates, email design, social templates, digital ads, and landing page design.
- Print coordination, if it’s part of your agreement: preparing files and specifications and working with production partners. Production management isn’t included in every retainer. Printing and manufacturing costs are separate.
A full website build, photography, video, a lot of copywriting, or a major brand project may need its own scope. We’ll tell you what’s included and what needs a separate project before work begins.

When a retainer is the wrong fit
If you need one package designed and don’t expect more work for several months, choose a project. Paying every month for a team you rarely need doesn’t help either of us.
If you’re building a brand from scratch, let’s plan that work first. A retainer can help an existing brand grow, but we need to know what we’re building before we can look after it.
You also need someone on your side who can set priorities and give feedback. We can take on the creative work, but we still need your business knowledge and decisions.
