As the market for medicinal and recreational use of cannabis continues to grow, we at Dyno Creative want to demonstrate how we could contribute to the success of any business in the space looking to make its mark.

Using one of our favorite IP’s as the backdrop, Gandalf’s Greenleaf was born!


We exist to bridge the gap between imagination and reality, drawing inspiration from the lush landscapes and profound tranquility of Middle Earth. Our commitment is to offer sustainably-crafted products that not only provide relaxation and inspiration but also foster a deep appreciation for nature’s gifts. Through our eco-conscious approach, we create a haven where both fantasy lovers and environmental advocates can find peace, connection, and mindfulness, honoring the spirit of Tolkien’s world.

To demonstrate how we would develop a cannabis brand focusing on the Core Values of:

    We’re dedicated to crafting experiences that honor our world. Join us in nurturing a legacy of care and green guardianship.

    Celebrating pure, untainted excellence, we stand for a tranquil alliance with the natural world.
  5. Beyond the Bounds of Reality
    We urge individuals to transcend the mundane and tap into where imagination meets reality where fantasy is woven into the fabric of everyday life.

Branding

The mission statement of Gandalf’s Greenleaf is:

“To create products that serve as keys to self-discovery and a deeper connection to the earth. Each item we produce is more than a commodity; it’s an adventure waiting to unfold, a step towards harmony with nature, and a tool for personal growth. We’re in the business of crafting experiences that encourage exploration, imagination, and environmental stewardship.”

Utilizing the brand’s Core Values and Mission Statement as our guide, we set out to design a logomark that felt inviting and wondrous. Using the brand’s namesake as its mascot, we illustrated Gandalf the Grey partaking in one of his favorite pastimes. The smoke emanating from the wizard’s mouth creates a circular frame to house the portrait, and showcase iconography detailing the various peoples of Middle Earth, visualizing the connection we all share to the planet and each other. We made sure to pair the logomark with typography and a color pallete that evokes the natural world, and the sense of adventure found on the literature of the ‘Lord of the Rings’ universe.

To get the best results, you have to start with a solid plan, and building a brand is no exception. We strategized to lay out the values and mission of Gandalf’s Greenleaf, allowing us to ensure our brand will connect with the appropriate audience, and strengthen its bond with the community.

To embody the natural world and connection with the earth, we enlisted the help of Illustrator Tina Ho to create a series of beautiful watercolor illustrations that can be used in both print and digital spaces. Print + Packaging

Utilizing the gorgeous illustrations provided by Tina, we looked at how cannabis products are currently packed, and formulated a few options for various forms of consumption. We have options for boxes, pouches, and other containers that all serve to highlight the brand’s sense of adventure and wonder, and recognizing that audiences can explore their mindfulness and connectivity in the manner best suited to them.

Results

Through a joyous collaboration between Tina Ho and Dyno Creative, we crafted an example of a brand that we strongly feel Herbologists and Middle Earthlings would be excited to get behind. We were able to focus our efforts on designing packaging that highlights specific motifs and characters that carry the values of brand forward.
