Eric Groot came to us with a problem familiar to many independent musicians: his brand identity didn’t match the quality of his music. As a guitarist building a serious presence in the metal scene, he’d spent months (and money) trying to work with Fiverr artists to create dinosaur-themed branding. The results? Generic clip art, constant compromises, and designs that felt more like children’s book illustrations than metal imagery.
“I’ve always had to make concessions with the branding,” Eric explained. “I feel like the concessions were always large.” Beyond the creative frustrations, Eric faced another hesitation: he wasn’t sure a professional agency would take on an individual musician rather than an established business. The project scope felt too small, and the investment felt risky after watching previous attempts fail.
Create a professional, cohesive brand identity that authentically merges Eric’s passion for paleontology with the powerful aesthetic of metal music – providing an independent musician the same caliber of branding as more “established” acts. We aimed to build a complete visual ecosystem that would give Eric confidence promoting his work while resonating with both metal enthusiasts and dinosaur lovers, all without compromising his unique artistic vision.

We started by understanding what made Eric’s vision unique: the intersection of paleontology passion and heavy metal aesthetics. Rather than treating dinosaurs as decoration, we built them into the core of his visual language. The Eric Groot logo became a bold, sophisticated mark that balanced scientific accuracy with metal edge. The emblem design gave him a versatile seal that could work across merch, social media, and album art.
Visual Ecosystem for Digital Presence
Eric needed shelf presence across multiple platforms. We created custom social media banner designs for Facebook, Spotify, and YouTube that maintained brand consistency while optimizing for each platform’s specifications. These weren’t just resized versions of the same file—each banner was crafted to work within its specific context.

The “Fossilized Fear” single artwork was custom-illustrated to merge Eric’s dual passions: heavy metal music and dinosaurs. Unlike the generic clip art Eric had struggled with on Fiverr, this piece was designed to balance paleontological accuracy with metal aesthetics—creating something that felt both scientifically grounded and artistically aggressive.
The artwork avoided two extremes: it wasn’t childish or cartoonish, nor was it gratuitously violent. Instead, the dinosaurs were portrayed as powerful prehistoric beasts rendered with the detail and intensity that Eric’s technical guitar work deserved.

The transformation went beyond aesthetics—it gave Eric the confidence to promote his work professionally and the visual assets to compete at a higher level in the metal music scene.
